excited as can be
new friends and learning
on their minds

she smiled as
she kissed them goodbye
and sent them
on their way

as she watched them
climb aboard the bus
her tears slipped
down her face

as the bus moved down the street
she turned from the window
as she did she met
his own tear-stained face

wiping her tears away
he pulled her gently
into his arms so that
they encircled her waist

their entwined hands
came to rest upon
her very pregnant stomach
and the little one on the way
